PALM DESERT, Aug. 15, 2016 – South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk went to the start line Sunday night trying to defend his 2015 World Championship in the 400 meters. Just more than 43 seconds later, he was both Olympic Champion and the world-record holder. Call him “Wayde van Wonderful”!
